Awareness through Movement is one of the approaches created by Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais to optimize the power of the brain and body connections. As a scientist he consistently studied the relation between feeling, thinking, moving and emotions. The emphasis is given on the learning process through wide exploration as a way to put into question our default functioning and create new connections in our brain and nervous system, opening a door for us to create within ourselves an infinite new range of possibilities of feeling, thinking and acting in the world.
The awareness of how the thinking is affecting our actions and vice versa has far reaching implications in our self-image, behavior, beliefs and creativity. As the sensibility and awareness increases, the whole psycho-physical system becomes clearer and more differentiated. Functionality and pleasure emerge into everyday actions as a consequence of a nervous system that is being constantly awaken, changed (neuroplasticity) and adapted through new perceptions.
With clear instructions and gentle movements, this specific class will guide you through an exploration ofthe flexors function and the coordination with the extensors, bringing easiness to flexion and lightness and release in the back allowing a more balanced posture, grounding and therefore increasing confidence.
